It's Christmas time!!!

Well today is Christmas. I'm at work but it's not all that bad. Draven and I did our Christmas yesterday. Santa came while I was sleeping after my Friday night shift and Draven opened his gifts that afternoon. He made off pretty well with a new bike, several DVD's, a new robe, jammie pants, art supplies, a Spongebob blanket, comic book and CD's. I thought for sure the bike would be the winner of the "best gift" award, but nope... a NOW 31 CD was the winner! That and some glow bracelets that were in his stocking! Draven is definitely not your average 5 year old! Today he went to Zach's parents house and then to his dad's girlfriends parents house before coming with me to Plainview. He had fun playing with his cousins and seeing Grandma and Grandpa. He rode home with uncle Mitch so I could come to work and is staying at my mom's house tonight. We are having Christmas there tomorrow. I really want to go "day after Christmas" shopping in the morning, but I'm not really sure I want to stay awake until Target's doors open at 7am... We shall see. Sometimes I really wish that things were how they used to be when I was little... just hop in the car and go to Grandma's for Christmas. Not having to deal with who gets the kiddo for what day and working around work schedules and trying to make everyone happy! Oh to be able to go back to a time that was much simpler! Merry Christmas!

Creativity Strikes again....

Well, I have this new little addiction called Pinterest. I found a project on the site that was perfect for me! It is a ladder shoe holder... pretty cool because... #1 I love shoes, and never have anywhere to put them, and #2 I have a garage full of old wooden ladders from the 1940's that are just screaming to me to put them to use. So here it is....

I thought it turned out cute. Ideally it would have been taller and able to hold more shoes, but hey, I have 2 ladders left in the garage to work with!

Waitress by Day, Dispatcher by Night, ALWAYS a momma.....

All you hard-working momma's probably know how I feel... I feel like I'm almost never home. So the times that I am home, I try to do special things with Draven, that make his day a little less "ordinary" Easier said than done, when those days off are also set aside for getting the crap done that I haven't done all week because I was working! Draven and I had a fun day Monday, nothing super special, but just getting to spend time with him was awesome. I let the dishes sit in the sink, the laundry pile didn't move and my "catch-all" dining room table continued to catch random items. We ran errands, stocked up on some christmas candy making supplies, and played some "Black Eyed Peas Dance" on the Wii. Draven was pretty amazed by my skills :) We had a blast. High fiving each other when we beat a high score, laughing so hard we almost peed our pants. When all was said and done, we cuddled up and watched a movie before hitting the hay. I lost count of how many times Draven said "Mom, I just love you so much. I can't even stop saying it, I love you THAT much!" Aw... what a little heart melter he is! We got to sleep in Tuesday and enjoyed the morning before I had to head back out to work. It's the little things that count.

Background Check...

Well, I guess you should know a little bit of background on our little family. Here goes... a tad bit random. I am Steph. The mommy. 27 years old, single, creative, a little bit crazy at times, sleep deprived, borderline workaholic, and ambitious. I love to hang out with Draven, cook, bake, decorate, and read.  Draven is 5... just turned 5 in fact. He is my little "Boona" He is incredibly intelligent, adorable and super funny. He wants to be a song writer when he grows up, his favorite food is summer sausage, he loves the Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Coldplay and Lady Gaga, he likes to cook, read, play Wii and harrass his dog, Vinny. Vinny is the other member of the family, a 5 year old Shar-Pei that we rescued from the pound a few years ago. Our life is crazy, busy, chaotic, but absolutely wonderful. I wouldn't have it any other way.
